My Promise. OR Is It a Disclaimer?

Hi ya all!  First off, you need to know that I am a pretty spunky and very talkative person when I'm in the right crowd.  Fortunately for you, I talk (think...type) a lot when I'm the only one listening (thus the blog).  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember that this blog is solely a creation for my own documentation of how I'm feeling, what I'm seeing, what I'm thinking etc....in regards to my own adventures with building with Ryan Homes.   If, as a secondary product, it ends up helping you then that is awesome.
Here's the disclaimer part:  Do NOT.....I REPEAT...DO NOT.....panic if you see something that I've written and take it as an absolute truth without first investigating your own situation first.  I'd like to think I'm so good that I know everything..... but I really do not. :)  I can conjure up a million ways of how or why something has happened on a building site.  For example:

I could post this photo and tell you that it looks like they decided to tape some framing on to the steel beam and that it was a little warped. ....and you could panic and discount Ryan Homes right then and there.  OR...you could wait until my little blog world plays out and someone else or myself either confirms or denies this "allegation".   (By the way...I purposely did not post this photo originally because I, myself, am waiting to see what they heck they are doing....but for the purpose of explaining this bizarre and lengthy post I decided to use it.  If I do find out what's going on, I will share. :)

I am by no means a licensed contractor or a project manager.  I'm just a gal with a passion for taking photos and analyzing just about anything and then documenting it for myself and my family.

I am totally humbled that you are interested enough to read about my process and I really appreciate the comments and corrections.  I LOVE learning about all this and I couldn't do it without you.

My intentions are not to scare you or to be dishonest in anyway.  ...so here is my promise (in two parts):

1.  I promise to type (talk) about my home building from my perspective and own truth...emotion and all. :)
2.  I promise that my photos do not lie.  ...however they do not tell the whole story on their own. :)

Ok...now I feel much better.  The last thing I want is for someone to feel negative in anyway because of something I created and I am sincerely sorry to anyone who may have read something I have written and had a moment of doubt about what and whom they are building with.  Trust yourself and your decisions....you made a good one. :)  Also...if you're feeling anxious, a bit of advice, start a blog!  Come on...you know you want to join this crazy blog world.  We don't bite. :)

Now...for the finale' ....As I continue on this journey of blogging my experience I'd like to quote Thomas:  "but hey, this is for my reference too so I hope people will bear with me!"

I've got nothing but love for you all!

  2. Woot, I got a quote in! And shucks, now I'm feeling humbled!

All is well, everyone wants to make sure their investment is sound. I mean most of us (everyone?) are talking about large sums of money. At a 4.0% rate I would be paying roughly $173,000 in interest alone over 30 years. If you are not a little amp'ed about making sure things are as good as reasonably possible, then something is wrong, IMO ;-)

  3. I second CMM's comment!

Charissa, I love reading your spunky entries! If I wasn't blogging on my iPad, then I'm sure I'd be writing so much more! Also, thanks for the help with adding captions! I'll try to do that next upload!

  4. Nah, Thomas. I thought I'd open the window and start tossing the money to passersby (joke).

Charissa - I think we're all in the same boat here. No one is an expert, just a bunch of chatty people building houses and looking for an outlet to talk about it (because I'm sure my friends could care less if I chose the tier 2 or 3 trim package). But you people seem to listen, and I appreciate that!

I love following the updates from all of you! Keep them coming.

    1. There is a way to add a "Like" button to your blog entries. I've seen it on others, lol.

  6. I need you to write me a disclaimer! I usually go with the "if you don't like what I have said (typed)....piss up a rope".

I am interested in the warped wood photo and what their game plan was/is.
I think some people hold opinions/photos/etc... back with the "I don't want to post it until they really pissed me off" thought process. You mentioned you originally held this photo out of the blog. These are the photos that NEED to be blogged. When I first started blogging, all people posted was "look at my new drywall" pictures. You would have thought building brought NO problems. WE don't hurt Ryan's image or publicity. We need to post the pot holes hit along the way AND Ryan's response. Doing this will help all.

    1. Agreed! :) I'll see if I can find some more dirt. No pun intended ....especially if I find a photo of a perplexing dirt problem.

  7. I agree with Sgt. Rich. Every time I get mad or worried about something, my husband asks: "You're not going to put that in your blog are you?" Of course I do! That's the whole point of this blog! I'm not sugar coating anything! I always post an update when RH rectifies the situation. I think this helps others who may see the same or similar issues. It also shows others what to look for!

    1. I think it also shows others how human we are when we do get all worked up or conjure up crazy ideas of what or how something went wrong.....and then blog.....and then show the process of how we recover from our own insanity. :)

  8. Cmm & Summer: The "who" is a couple whom I've never met but I'm sure they are lovely people....who just worry like crazy and are nervous about such a big investment... like I do. The "what" was their reaction to my comment about about a missing bit of stone on a friend's home.
