Check your blueprints!

Hey you all...again!  I'm on a roll today.  I just wanted to remind you to check your blueprints line by line and corner by corner.  We caught something they missed.  We are suppose to get a keyless attic light according to our blueprint and it is NOT there.  We just caught it because I decided to finally sit down and check out the house vs. the blueprint.  I went through and counted all of my outlets/switches etc. The kitchen is suppose to be all GFC outlets and it didn't look like ours has that but the SR explained to me that one is a GFC and the others are wired off of it and will trip like a GFC.  Hmmm.  Well ok if you say so.  Another thing that initially really annoyed me was that we paid EXTRA for the gas line for our stove and the house comes with a 220V for a stove.  If you get the gas they don't also put the 220V.  I thought we were getting shorted money because wiring is so expensive (especially 220V) but my husband said that they have to pay a good amount to have the gas company do their thing too.  I was just thinking it was just a matter of conduit for the gas which is way cheaper than copper.  So I'm going to trust my hubbie on this.  In my mind..we should get both if we paid extra so if we do sell...there are options.   Anyways..back to the attic light.  Does anyone else have the note in their blueprints that says that the attic gets a light?   I know it's not a big thing and I'm not going to throw a fit if I don't get it...but I did pay for it and according to RH something like that costs $100.00....so of course I'm thinking..discount. ...or attic light.
Finally...I panicked a bit about my windows because NONE of them were locking.  Turns out that even just a little bit of dust will hinder their shutting abilities.  It is a very tight fit though..for sure.
And!!!!!!  My Jacuzzi Tub is FINALLY right.  Pictures will come later this week.  I'm so excited.  It's perfect!

Closing Fee update:  My loan officer called and apologized about the "oversight".  He said that they just forgot to change it from 17 days to 26 days for the interest and that the taxes are more up front but my interim taxes should be lower now.  I hope so.  I'm still not happy about your oversight RH and I think you should give me something for my freak out.....like a new washer or dryer?   One can only dream of a perfect world filled with satisfied customers who spend over $200,000 on a home getting small perks for the inconveniences caused by others mistakes.   Ahhh.  Ok.  I'm over it now.

  1. They wouldn't give us the blueprints... probably so we couldn't go through with a fine-tooth comb like you said. I managed to sneak some pictures of them, but we don't have the electrical plans which would have been nice. You're so close!!!

  2. Weird. We were given mini blueprints that we had to sign off on when we first met with our PM. I can't wait to close and start working on decorating for the next 30 years because that's how long it's going to take for this huge house! I can't wait for my baby to have room to run around.

  3. We didn't get blue prints either. They said it had something to do with copyright? They said we can request them from the city after the house is built.

  5. We never asked for the blue prints but now I'm thinking we should have. We deleted a window from the side of the house and I was told by the SR that they couldn't give me any extra credit back because they had to pay extra for blueprints showing the window deleted.????? Who knows? When is your closing again? We are so excited for you guys!

    1. My closing is August 6th along with some other bloggers! Ahhhh I'm so excited and nervous. What am I going to do with all that house? I'm excited to have my own office so I can tune out the world when I'm working on my photos. ...and....I have space for exercise machines! I have a Total Gym that a girlfriend gave me but no space to use it right now. I definitely won't have that excuse after we move. Final walk through in less than two days!

    2. How awesome! We don't close until September the 5th. It seems so far away and like you we won't know what to do with all the space. We down sized big time in order to save money for the house. Im sure I'll find something to do with all of it. LOL

  6. We did not receive blueprints either...I think I read on a blog a few months back that Ryan doesnt give them out. I have been trying to reference the prints that are lying in the house for the workers but they have pretty much fallen apart or are in a giant crumpled heap. I feel for the money were paying for our house blueprints should be provided.

  7. We were lucky enough to get the small copies of the blueprints from our awesome SR. I asked about the attic light at the precon meeting and they said that they do not put them in although it is was on the blue print. I did not put up much of a fight on that one since I should not be in there that often.

They also had attic stairs on the blueprint, but that is not done in our area.

Nice they got your tub all squared away!

    1. Yup...That's what I figured. I don't really care if there is an attic light or not but I did ask about the note on the blueprint about it just to kind of see what their reaction was....which as of right now they haven't said anything which usually means they are working on it. I think they are actually putting it in. I don't mind it either way. I will see tomorrow during my FINAL WALK THROUGH!!!!!! WHOO HOO! GETTING EXCITED NOW!

  8. I didn't get a copy of the blueprints either. I was told they were "propietary" information to Ryan Homes and if the PM gave me a copy he could lose his job. However one night I went by the house and they were laying out so I snapped pics of most of the pages I thought I might want one day.
