Back from Vacation and Good News!

We just got back yesterday and Dustin's credit issue has been resolved!!!!  Whoo hoo!  He went from having no credit score to having above 680 (no the best but better than nothing!) in less than 30 days.  THANK YOU my blog buddies for all the information you gave me.  It totally saved our butts!  We put him on as a joint owner to my awesome cards and it worked like a charm.  Amazing!  I wasn't sure it would happen that fast.  We are going to close on time!  Whoo hoo!  I will be visiting the house and posting updated photos soon.  The siding is almost complete and the closet shelving is in place.   Oh my goodness!  This is all so exciting!  I'm glad to be back from my vacation to see what I missed on all your blogs! :)  Happy Blogging!

    1. Thanks! I see that you guys got good news this past week too! That is awesome! I feel like I can relax a little now. I was seriously anxious about it all. Now I can focus on all the good stuff that the home building process brings. :) Yippee!

    2. You are welcome!! Yes, we have good news too. Too EXCITED!! I agree, it is such a BIG relief!!! Now I can focus on organizing our move--time to start packing!!! What kind of camera do you have? I love your pictures! I have a D90 that I am still learning how to use. I must get up to speed so I can take some fabulous pictures when they start building!!

    3. My camera is a Canon 7D. I have a degree in Fine Arts which is the main reason my pictures are so visually awesome. (Not being conceded...I just love my photos and I like to credit my education.) I can take photos with a camera phone that are just as good. It's all about composition. You can definitely do what I do with a D90 no problem. Learn about the "Rule of Thirds" and you will be amazed at the difference. Also, I never shoot using the automatic mode. It's much better to learn how to use the camera in Manual so you can tell the camera what you want....and not let it think it's doing what it thinks you want. If you can master ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture you will be on your way to super photos. For me it's meditative in many ways. Feel free to ask any other questions about photos. I have a Summer Photography Journal Blog that you can check out and ask about any techniques or lenses that I use too. :) Happy Shooting!

    4. Thank you so much Charissa! I purchased a D90 book because I love to read so I will indulge in mastering the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture. I took one mini course where she mentioned these things and my head was spinning. So I opt to take a online course with New York Institute of Photography. I remember stumbling upon your blog--how can I find it again?

    5. My computer is acting insane! YUCK! In response to your reply...I hate reading about technique. I don't minding reading at all but I can not learn to be creative by reading. What I had to do was go out and use my camera and look at photos and then try to change them. I learned my way and I got much better because of it. I would change one thing at a time (like ISO) and then look at the photos and see what it did. Then things started to build on top of one another. I'd find situations where I would need a fast shutter speed (moving objects) instead of a slow one or I'd be in low light but want to make it appear like I was in bright light. I think the online course is a great idea. I believe they will give you little assignments that force you to use the camera in manual to accomplish given goals. ....like...blurring things on purpose or focusing on focus. (Haha ...sorry.) Anyways...my photo blog is: http://mysummerphotographyjournal2012.blogspot.com/ I also have a company called Cranberry Photography. My dream is to go full time with it but right now, with everything going on, I'm happy to have an occasional client and pick and choose whether I want to do an event or not. I want to keep photography pleasant and not work for right now. I'm hoping to settle in this new spectacular home first and then go full throttle with my other dreams!

    6. This is great information, Charissa! I noticed you mentioned setting up a photography studio and my thought process starting going in my head. I can use my extra room for an exercise room or photography studio and would love your feedback. What would I actually use the studio for, is it necessary to dedicate an entire room to it etc etc etc etc. Thanks. Going to check out your blog!! BTW-Congratulations on getting an excellent rate and money to spend! HOLLA!

    7. An actual studio would depend on how serious you are going to get. A studio would allow you to have several backdrops and invite clients in to take more formal pictures. However...I am a natural light photographer (as much as possible) and I do not really need what most photographers consider a true studio. My extra room will house my camera bodies, lenses and provide me a space where I can put up my photos and analyze them/change/create them. It's going to be a place where I can go and shut my door and focus solely on my photography. Right now...I'm in my living room/kitchen/diningroom/office working on photography. I just need a space to do me. :) My dedicated photography computer and contracts will all go in this room too. I'm hoping it will be a room of inspiration. :)

    8. Oh and since we will be neighbors, can you teach me the rule of thirds? I shoot in manual but I just mess with the shutter, aperture and ISO, white balance and exposure until I get something that looks ok and then hope that Lightroom will allow me to edit it to look a little better but I'm just not very good with low-light situations and I hate high ISO and a ton of grain. I just need someone to help me make sense of it all LOL

Seriously, I was looking through your blog to see if you asked PM about mounting the vanity lights in the bathroom to face up or not, and if so, what did he say? I was thinking about asking him, but I really don't think he likes me or I ask too many questions, cause I get a lot of no's and just a few yes's. just curious before I ask him if you already did.
